Success is about more than IQ. Non-cognitive attributes like curiosity, self-control and social fluidity also play a key role in skill and character development. Grit, an important element in fostering and protecting non-cognitive skill and character development, helps kids grow the part of the brain that regulates emotion and thought. This, in turn, helps kids deal with confusing, unpredictable situations that are part of growing up.
